Can you make money blogging?

It is an issue much in debate at the moment.  The question tends to go hand in hand with the issue we talked about earlier, can you many money from writing at all?

The straightforward answer is yes. But it is not easy.  If you think that setting up a free Wordpress or Blogger account, typing out your thoughts a few times a week, and installing Adsense is going to let you quit your day job,  then I have some jarring news for you - ain't gonna happen.

Building a successful blog is not easy.  It is definitely not a get rich quick scheme, and if anyone ever tries to convince you otherwise, especially if they are 'selling the secrets to a six figure blog' then take it with a huge mountain of salt.

In order to make money from writing, you need to treat it as you would any other business.  You have to devise a business plan,  look at expected expenditure, make a schedule, create targets and examine all of the different ways to generate income.  This is especially true for creating a blog that you intend to make money.  The blogosphere is crammed full of people writing about just about everything, from their random daily thoughts to hard core political views to their adventures in Second Life .  The train for novel ideas that would attract thousands of visitors and grant you celebrity blogger status left the station long ago,  and you are going to have to work harder for transport to your ideal blogging career.
