Writer Shout Out
Shout Out!Here are a few writer sites that offered up some notable content items this week:
Renegade Writer , Linda Formichelli opened a new site that focuses on her Break into Magazine Writing course. I've found a lot of great information and tips on Renegade Writer, such as productivity hacks , which are a must for any freelancer. The markets database is also a useful resource if you write for magazines, as it is uniquely formatted as a Wiki, letting writers add and amend the details to keep them both up to date and diverse.
Linda posted a very useful blog at Successful Freelance Writer which highlights the importance of making some of your blog content 'evergreen.' I realised this morning that one of my blogs is two years old, and has hundreds of posts, most of which will only be read once or twice before falling into the archives even though the content might still be valid today. This post made me think about giving a few of them a dusting off, and an update to make them more timeless and search engine friendly.
Uh oh, busted! MJ at SOS Your Life hit the nail on the head for me with her post on why we procrastinate and allow clutter to build up around us. I do have a habit of self sabotaging some of my projects, and maybe I do 'accidentally' lose things amongst the steadily amassing pile of paper, post its andother paraphernalia in my office as an excuse for not being able to finish something.
On that note, I suppose I better go and put some of her tips on how to de-clutter into force and do a bit of spring cleaning!
