This week, the Nibby Award goes to the Taxi Gourmet blog. As an eager traveller and foodie, I love the concept of this blog. Journalist Layne Mosler explores a city's cuisine through the people who know a city best: the cabbies. Currently based in Buenos Aires, each week she hops into a cab and asks the driver to take her to his favorite restaurant, or one that he recommends.
Her column is well written and a fascinating read. It offers an insight into the city of Buenos Aires, as well as giving a glimpse into the lives of the ordinary people who are the lifeblood of a city.
The blog is also a great example of how a specific hook or angle can really give you extra exposure for your writing career, as well as make it easier to write by giving you a regular schedule and format to write to.
Perhaps you will be inspired to start your own gourmet adventure and take a little more time to explore your own back garden. There are probably hundreds of stories waiting to be written, and all you have to do is find them.
If you are feeling inspired to follow in Layne's footsteps then stay tuned to her blog for updates about her newly launched Annual Taxi Gourmet Story Contest where you can share your own taxi tales.
Want to nominate a blog for the Nibby Award next Friday? Tweet the URL of the blog and the hashtag #NibbyAward and I will follow you and take a look at your link.
