We are still not out of ideas on how to monetize you blog. In fact, we aren't even half way through, and these techniques that I am covering this week are just my top six recommendations on how to make money from your blog; there are plenty of other options that I'm not even going to touch on.
This strategy may not earn you mega-bucks, but it can be a quick and easy way to earn money from your blog. Plus, since it involves creating content you are effectively hitting two birds with one stone.
Hiring a blogger to write about their product or service is a great way for a company to gain exposure, traffic and valuable links to their website. Many bloggers also write reviews to make recommendations to their readers. Advertising networks were quick to seize upon how these two groups of people could work together and there are now several companies who match up advertisers with bloggers.
The way it works is easy: You sign up with an advertising network such as PayPerPost or SponsoredReviews and fill out a profile for your blog. Companies can then approach you to write a post about their products or services, or you can apply for available opportunities.
Earnings per post vary, and are usually based on the strength and niche of your own blog. If you have a high traffic, popular blog about shoes, for example, you might be able to command up to $50 for a 500 word review about a specific shoe e-tailer, while a company selling web hosting might not want to work with you because your readership is not their target market.
Some bloggers avoid writing paid posts, as they believe that it is not an honest practice, and in some way deceives their readers, while others are happy to write about anything and anyone who will pay them. There is a happy medium in there, by selecting to write paid posts only for companies who you think your readers would be genuinely interested in.
In my experience, unlike other forms of monetizing your blog, this strategy has an income limit, imposed by being restricted on how many paid posts you can write during a month, but for a good blog it can provide a stable, regular stream of revenue not to be sneezed at.
Top Tip for this money maker:
- This is one instance where I recommend signing up with several advertising networks to increase your chances of landing a paying post assignment. Also, try to keep the style of writing in a paid post as natural and as similar to the tone of your other posts as possible so that your readers do not find these posts too 'spammy'.
A Word of Caution:
- Limit your paid posts to 'geniune' content to a ratio of 1-3 at the most. Most advertising networks will have rules about how many paid posts you can do, too. If you find that you enjoy writing reviews, then consider writing reviews for products, companies or services that you can earn affiliate revenue from.
